taking part in terraces with a view

Any readers familiar with this blog will know that we’re always trying to find new, alternative ways for our followers to experience the city. That’s why we’re especially psyched about the return of Florence Terraces with a View for its second summer. The program’s mantra is “Change your point of view!” Locals and visitors alike are encouraged to take advantage of panoramic perspectives from some of the most prized (and expensive) terraces in the city and surrounding hills from now until October 4th.

For the love of social media, you are free to waltz into a number of different hotels and head for their elaborate terraces. Each will offer an incredible view of Florence that normally you might have to cough up a high number of euros to see. Simply tell the doorman you’re there for the terrazza and wave your camera as you head in the hotel. Then snap your best shot from the top and post it with #tcv2014. Vistas, prizes, and bragging rights await!

Did we say prizes? Yes, indeed! As long as you post a snap of your elevated point of view with the designated hashtag, you’ll be entered to win an overnight stay in Florence for two, plus two Firenze Cards so that you can then tour the rest of the city for free!

Below are a peek at the views from the 18 participating hotels. We were going to write a little blurb about each one’s location, but then we thought, why not let the photos speak for themselves? Choose one or choose them all, but make sure to make your way to a terrace soon. Please note, the spaces are only open for selected hours, and some may require advance notice to gain access. For all the details, keep this brochure handy.

Happy snapping! And don’t forget the tag #tcv2014.
