2015 italian bucket list

It’s a blogging tradition around here to post a trip bucket list for every return to Italy. This one is a bit shorter than those of the past (2013, 2014). That’s due in large part to the fact that my other Italo-loving half, Hannah, won’t be along with me (she’ll certainly be there in spirit!). But it’s for another reason as well. With so many in mourning and unsettled across the globe, the opportunity to visit another country on holiday is an undeserved luxury. It feels silly to enumerate “must-dos” when the ability to visit with friends and loved ones shouldn’t be taken for granted.

If you’d like to follow along, I’ll be posting from Florence and Rome on Instagram. And I’ll be wishing you the spirit of a healthy and safe Thanksgiving.

In Rome:
  • Finally stroll along the Appian Way
I’ve been itching to explore the catacombs here since my first visit to Rome. This may be the trip I finally see them.
  • Visit Bramante’s Tempietto
After a walk on the Gianicolo past the Villa Doria Pamphilj.
  • Duck into the Pantheon during the rain
One look at the forecast pretty much guarantees I’ll be seeing rain at some point during my trip. Quieter streets and the opportunity to catch rain pouring through the Pantheon’s oculus more than makes up for that.

Have anything I should add to my list? Leave me a note!

  1. Rain coming through the oculus would be truly magnifico! If you haven’t already been (and even if you have) I would recommend checking out my fav museo in Roma, Centrale Montemartini-and take a sketchbook. I wrote a post about it last year and it is an amazing place. Buon viaggio, Cristina
